The Ninth Olympiada of Spoken Russian took place on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Kings Borough Community College. Sixty-two schoolchildren (from 6 to 16 years old) took part in the contest; fifty of them came in person and twelve participated via Skype. Besides children from tri-state area, the participants included two sisters from Madison, Wisconsin, who flew with their parents to New York in order to participate in the Olympiada. One girl was supposed to fly from Tampa, Florida, but her flight was canceled, and she had to participate via Skype. Eleven children from Massachusetts\u00a0 participated via Skype from their Russian school in the suburbs of Boston.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
